Rotary Young Artist and Young Photographer competitions.
National Young Artist Winner (Intermediate): Tom Lawton
National Young Photographer Winner (Senior): Jolee Groce
Rotarians are professional men and women who aim to put into practice Rotary’s motto of ‘Service above Self’. Organising competitions across a number of areas for talented young people is one important part of Rotary’s involvement with young people.
For several years we have been delighted to have entries from Ilfracombe Academy for the Young Photographer competition and this year also for the Young Artist competition. The standard has always been extremely high, but last year Amalie Mitchell won the senior national Young Photographer competition for the whole of Great Britain and Ireland. This year the Academy has done even better! As well as winning our own Ilfracombe competition, Tom Lawton’s entry for the intermediate Young Artist and Jolee Groce’s entry for the senior Young Photographer entry both went on to win the West Country District competition. They were then forwarded to the National Competition and won the competitions for the whole of Great Britain and Ireland – magnificent achievements. It gives us great pleasure to present Tom and Jolee with their winner’s trophies, certificates and vouchers for £75 each, together with their winning entries which have been framed.
