To celebrate World Polio Day Ilfracombe Rotary held a fundraising inter-club Bingo evening with fish and chip supper and requested that all wear something purple. Some of our ladies even dyed their hair purple (although it turned out a shade of blue!) Why Purple? This is the colour that is painted on a childs finger to show that they have been vaccinated against polio.
It was a fun evening and it was lovely to welcome fellow Rotarians from Ilfracombe Compass Rotary Club, The Rotary Club of Braunton Caen and Barnstaple Rotary Club.
The bingo and raffle raised £335 on the night plus Rotarians that could not attend generously donated a further £70 at the next meeting. With Gift Aid this swelled to £423, which when doubled by Mr Bill Gates makes their total donation to the End Polio Now fund around £1270..... well done everybody!
