End Polio

Rotary, along with our partners, has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. We are close to eradicating polio, but we need your help. Whether you have a few minutes or a few hours, we need your help to make a global impact and protect children against polio forever.

Literacy in a Box - Basic Education for all children

Our mission is to ensure that every child has access to the most basic education essentials such as pens, pencils, paper, chalk and rulers. Our core programme, School Aid 4 Zambia, provides these educational basics in brightly coloured boxes which are themselves used for a variety of purposes. Each box contains enough basic school materials for 25 pupils and costs £295 including shipping.

ShelterBox

ShelterBox and Rotary have been official Project Partners in disaster relief since 2012, but have worked closely together for more than 16 years, as one of the world’s most effective humanitarian collaborations. Together, we provide lifesaving assistance to millions of people who have lost their homes through conflict and natural disasters.

ShelterBox began in 2000 when the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard championed the simple idea to package up essential shelter items in the now iconic green ShelterBoxes for their millennium project. With Rotarians at its heart, ShelterBox has grown to become a major force in humanitarian aid and a world-leading expert in emergency shelter.

Rotarians and Rotary groups across the UK and globally support ShelterBox in a range of essential ways, from raising vital money and awareness at home, to helping hand-deliver the charity’s emergency aid to families in desperate need across the world. Together, ShelterBox and Rotary cross boundaries and cut through red tape to reach even the most remote communities.

REMaRAG - Rotarians Eliminating Malaria

Rotarians Eliminating Malaria a Rotarian Action Group (hereafter REMaRAG) promotes fellowship, understanding and acquaintance of Rotarians & Rotaractors worldwide with the larger world of individuals, groups, governments and institutions who share a common interest in malaria control.

Sand Dams - The Rotary Sand Dams project is a revolution that is bringing huge benefits in Africa.

Dawlish Water Rotary Club has been the lead club for the District-wide Sand Dams project for Kenya since autumn 2012. It has become an extremely successful project, utilising Rotary global and Government grants wherever possible.

With the fantastic support of 22 other Rotary clubs in Devon & Cornwall and beyond, just over £25,000 has been raised – money which will be more than trebled by grants. The District has given tremendous support to the project which has increased the investment in Sand Dams, through allocating $20,000 to date.

The first dam in Eastern Kenya was completed in February 2016. The second dam in Kenya which is close to completion is part a global grant for four dams.  The cost is around £20k.

This Rotary project is truly making a world of difference. UK Rotary and other funding could well reach an amazing £1million.

The importance of these self-help projects has been highlighted once again by the present severe drought in northern Kenya and elsewhere.
