Surgical Robot for Treliske Hospital
Falmouth Rotary is coordinating efforts to raise funds for a surgical robot for Treliske Hospital.
As residents of Cornwall, we understand the importance of having access to top-notch medical facilities and equipment. This is not just about us; it's about our families, friends, and neighbors who may one day need life-saving surgery. We believe that the acquisition of a surgical robot by NHS Cornwall for Treliske Hospital is crucial.
Surgical robots have been proven to increase precision during operations, reduce patient recovery time and hospital stay duration. According to a study published in The Lancet, robotic-assisted surgeries resulted in fewer complications compared to traditional methods (The Lancet 2019).However, despite these benefits, our local hospital - Treliske Hospital - lacks this vital piece of equipment. This not only puts patients at risk but also hinders the development of our healthcare professionals' skills.
We cannot let our county lose its edge due to outdated technology. We urge NHS Cornwall to invest in a surgical robot for Treliske Hospital as soon as possible.
