Dec 2024

The Young Chef competition took place at Falmouth School on Dec 13th.  Rotary's sincere thanks go to the three judges who took time off at their busiest time of the year-- Nick Hodges, Group Executive Chef for Cornwall Hotels Collection,  John Eley Executive Chef at the Penmorvah and Bobby Southworth, Head chef at the Greenbank. The judges were very impressed with the young cooks and Nick Hodges extended an invitation to them to visit the kitchens at the Greenbank. Five young chef's competed, all from year 8 at Falmouth School. First prize was won by Sophie Cloke for her menu of stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon with hassleback potatoes followed by a "brookie" chocolate sweet. Second place was won by George Light for crispy squid -- which he caught himself the previous day -- with chips and salad followed by apple crumble. Third place went to Ruby Jones for her beetroot risotto with goat's cheese and walnuts, followed by creme brule.
