UPDATES:
October 2025
Despite a rainy forecast, the sun shone on Sunday 21st September for Falmouth Rotary Club’s 12th annual Run Mawnan event. 241 runners of all ages gathered at Carwinion Playing Field to take part in the races on 3 different routes through the village and no less than seven existing records were broken.
Rotarian Rod Allday, Chairman of the Run Mawnan committee and Run Director, said “It was great to have staged another successful event for the village, this for the twelfth time. It was encouraging to see so many young participants in the 5K race and there were outstanding performances by the senior athletes. The additional support from Mawnan WI with their stalls added to the village fete atmosphere and it was good to showcase the consultation on the project to extend the playing field. As always, we are extremely grateful to all the local businesses who have supported us by providing some great prizes, and to all the volunteers who marshal the course and help in the event field. The event raised in the region of £2000 for charity and as usual we will aim to distribute half of the proceeds within the village.

The ever-popular event with 10k and 5k races and a one mile children’s fun run was a great success, with 230 runners taking part. Cash sponsorship from Kimberley’s Estate Agents and Cornish Holiday Cottages and great prizes from Budock Vean Hotel and Hotel Meudon boosted the monies raised by the event to a total of £2500. As usual, the Rotary Club agreed to distribute half of the monies raised to assist clubs and projects in Mawnan Parish and representatives of the beneficiaries received their cheques last month:
