The photo shows President David presenting the cheque to John Cleverley, accompanied by Lisa O'Shaughnessy, the local Tesco Community Champion, who played a key role in allowing us to make collections in the Exmouth store. John explained how the money will be spent on tents and other essential items like blankets, mattresses, stoves and lighting. Deployment is achieved through Rotary clubs in the region and local suppliers and manufacturers are used whenever possible.
The situation in Syria is incredibly difficult as bad winter weather, remote locations and ongoing civil and military unrest cause extreme difficulties. Nevertheless, huge efforts are being made to bring the same aid to the earthquake victims there. In addition, desperately needed warm coats, especially for children, are being supplied through the ShelterBox partner ReliefAid.
