DetailsPickering’s Rotarians pride themselves on being doers. We meet regularly to enjoy a meal and each other’s company: but that’s just cover for an enterprise that seeks to help people both in the locality and further afield.
Rotarians help largely through raising money, sometimes by holding buckets in marketplaces and town centres in the hope that members of the public might donate.
Our other main source of funds has been organising the car parking at local country shows and other events. Each November we support the Dalby Dash, a 10k run in Dalby Forest, and will be supporting the car parking at the Ryedale Show in July and the Egton Show in August.
We also arrange other fundraising events and activities throughout the year.
In addition to making donations to local charities and other good causes, we also participate in community events, and we support community organisations with grants and hands-on assistance. We are particularly keen to support youth events and activities in our local area where we can.
However, being a Rotarian is not all about hard work and fundraising, and, during the year, we enjoy a full and varied calendar of social events, including barbecues, community curries and visits to the theatre.
We are always interested in talking to people who might like to know more about Rotary… and who might even wish to join us as members.

The club meets every Wednesday, mostly at lunchtime except the last Wednesday in the month when we meet in the evening. All meetings are held at the Forest and Vale Hotel by the roundabout in Pickering.
What is Rotary?
Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
