New Developments

Alison gave us an update on the activities of the hospice.  They have opened a well-being centre, previously known as the Day Centre, which offers many activities to look after a person’s well-being.  The hair dressing salon is now open to the public.

Creativity

They have a creativity department for arts and crafts as well as creative writing.  Many of the participants are beginning to talk and write about their experiences when they were at work, such as fishing.  This being something that they can share and leave with their families who may not know all of their background stories.

Patients do recover from their illnesses; some 60% for cancer patients.  There are also patients with heart disease, COPD and liver damage.

Cheque

Alison was grateful to receive the cheque for £600, representing the proceeds from the Charity Clay Pigeon Re-entry shoot held in May and reminded us all that they need to raise money continuously in order to support the operation of the hospice.
