70th Anniversary Charter Dinner - 30th January 2018

Venue: National Mining Museum

The Rotary Club of Ossett celebrated its 70th Anniversary of the granting of the Club’s Charter at a Dinner held at the National Coalmining Museum.

President Paul Tinker welcomed over 70 guests, including Rotary District Governor Robert Morphet, fellow Ossett Rotarians and Presidents and their guests from clubs across the region.

A special honour, the Paul Harris Award, was presented to Ossett Rotarian June Drysdale for her outstanding support for Rotary and wider charities. Earlier in the month Brenda Wood, also from Ossett Rotary Club, was awarded a second Paul Harris award for her continual work in safeguarding and diversity matters across the District.

Guests were entertained by local magician Rich Reynolds and Melissa Radway, who delighted the audience with her amazing Shirley Bassey tribute performance.

The event raised funds for Rotary supported charities and projects and guests donated food to the Community Awareness Programme (CAP) who do a remarkable job for people in need in and around Wakefield, providing an average of 22,000 hot meals per year with a tiny budget of £1100.

An enjoyable evening was had by all.
