President's Installation 2017
Diane Glister's induction as President of Blackpool Palatine Rotary Club 2016/17
Diane welcomed District Gov Malcolm, and fellow Presidents for this year, from Blackpool, Brian Walker, from Blackpool South Eric Hind and from Sunrise, Adrian Grant.
Below is Diane's speech for the night
Thank you all for coming tonight for my induction, it is an honour for me to be the President of Palatine and I hope that I will keep up the high standards already achieved by the past presidents. I would like to say a big thank you to Gail for her year, which we all enjoyed tremendously and to thank her for all her hard work.
Tonight, I introduce my team for the year ahead, and give them their badges of office.
Mark Rooker is the President Elect. Howard Gent is the secretary. Unfortunately, Angela Butcher, who is the treasurer and President Elect is away on holiday so I will give them to her next week.
I would just like to say a big thank you to my family and friends for taking time out of their busy lives to support me on such a privileged achievement. I am looking forward to my year and with the support of my committee heads I am sure we are in for a fun and profitable year. This will be the second year of our 3-year project, where we are putting aside £10,000 towards a community project in the name of Palatine. We are hoping to Global grant this so hopefully we will have up to £30,000 towards a project. I know Terry has a few fun fundraising ideas for next year so we should be in for a very interesting year. May I also take this opportunity to praise my lovely Club, as during Gail’s year we carried out between us 1400 hours of voluntary work. 720 of those hours were spent at the circus and I would like to thank Laci and Maureen on behalf of the Club, I am sorry that Laci can’t be here tonight, but I am sure Maureen will pass on our thanks to him, for enabling us to collect. This year, we collected £14,500.
May I remind all committee heads that they must send their reports to secretary Howard for the Business meeting next week, please. Many thanks.
It now gives me great pleasure to introduce our guest speaker for tonight, Sally Naden from Radio Lancashire.
