IronMan 2015 Charity Awards

Charitable awards to organisations from sponsorship of entrants in the Ironman

One of the great results of the Iron Man event being held in Bolton in recent years has been the steady flow of charity donations generated by the athletes involved. This morning (Wednesday 3rd August) saw the most recent donation being handed over to 'The Brain Tumour Charity' by the Rotary Club of Bolton Daybreak.

The Brain Tumour Charity (www.thebraintumourcharity.org) is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours, making a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families. The charity has roots going back to 1996 and aims to:-

  • fund pioneering research to find new treatments, improve understanding, increase survival rates and bring us closer to a cure.
  • raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours, to reduce diagnosis times and make a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families.
  • provide support and information for anyone affected to improve quality of life.
  • The attached photograph shows Clive Gardiner, President of the Rotary Club of Bolton Daybreak, donating £1,600 generated by the Iron Man athletes to Kerry Roe-Ely of the Brain Tumour Charity.

Cheque for £500 also presented to:
