Tom Lowe, of Eastington Apple Orchard fame!, gave us a whistle stop tour of the amazing geological and biological highlights of the SW United States. We saw ‘General Sherman’ in the Sequoia National Park, the Methuselah Grove with its 4,500 year old bristlecone pine trees (the oldest organisms on the planet – even older than some Rotarians). We saw the horrifying climbers on El Capitain (it is a three day climb, sleeping in a hanging tent. We saew Zion Canyon, the Arches, Brice Canyon and of course the highlight the 270 mile Grand Canyon (not all of it I’m relieved to say!).
Thank you so much Tom for letting us vicariously walk through such majestic scenery and sites without having to break sweat – it was a real treat.
