July marks an important transition for all Rotary clubs, when the main office-bearers pass their roles and responsibilities to the incoming officers.
Presidency passed from Peter Farr to Mary Fraser, the President Elect. Mary has the distinction of being the first lady President in the history of the Club. She has a distinguished background in healthcare, both in the delivery of care and in research into health-related provision. In passing over the regalia, Peter paid tribute to Club members for giving of their time, expertise and abilities in raising money for good causes. They exemplified, he emphasised, the best aspect of Rotary, namely service above self.
In accepting the Presidency, Mary paid tribute to Peter for his guidance and support to the Club throughout the year – a successful year for the Club, which reflected the quality of his leadership.
In succession, the role of President Elect was then formally passed to Nick Rawlings and of President Nominee to George Morrison. Iain Fraser was confirmed in his role as Secretary and Alan Lee, similarly, will continue to act as Treasurer.

Russell Clarke reported on the previous week’s Am-Am competition held at the Dunblane New Golf Club. It was, he said, a great success, with funds raised to date exceeding £12,000, with further income to be received. These funds will be donated to Strathcarron Hospice.John Kilby reflected on the difficulties experienced at the Doune and Dunblane Show, where the weather had made the erection of the new marquee a distinct challenge. Notwithstanding these difficulties, normal service in the delivery of crepes had been achieved. Members had overcome the adverse conditions and deserved congratulations.
