You will be aware that Lawrence Gibbon died on the 20th July last. He was inducted into our Rotary Club in 1980 and thereafter became a stalwart member of the Club, always supporting the numerous club activities throughout the year and was always ably supported by Pat.
Up until recent years he and Pat together with other club members visited a number of foreign clubs including Grimsby (Ontario), Pierrefitte, Nice and Aalborg and were generous with their hospitality when hosting members of those clubs on their return visits.
He became our President in 1987/8 and his house both then and subsequently became an excellent venue for our social and money raising events.
He has been the Housemember for many years, always looking at the quality of the hotel catering and negotiating with management to deal with any problems.
We shall miss his cheery countenance and his ability to pose a pertinent question on any controversial matter. He was a good Rotarian.
Thanks to John Cox
