After-lunch musical treat

Director - Furness Music Centre


Club members had a musical lunch when Richard Bagnall, the director of the Furness Music Centre, gave  a talk at their meeting in the Lisdoonie Hotel.

He told of the history of the Centre which started in 2001 and is based at Dowdales School in Dalton. Originally it involved a choir, in which anyone could get involved, and then alongside the choir an orchestra started.

Richard said that in the first weeks there were only eight or ten musicians but now the orchestra is 40 strong and has developed a chamber music and a string group while the choir has a chamber section.

He said that since Easter 2011 the Centre has been self funding and while they give music lessons the desire to make it
