The President writes ....

We have started the New Year with a series of excellent speakers and last Thursday coninued that trend .

Janine Ebenso spoke on "Leprosy defeated, Lives Transformed". She has travelled extensively particularly in Africa and especially in Nigeria. She illustrated her talk with photographs of leprosy victims and showed how such victims will react and feel if they have leprosy-this was particularly effective when two of our members were asked to identify an everyday object without looking and wearing rubber gloves. Council is going to have consider the merits of a donation to the charities who have spoken so well at the Club in recent times.

The ADG who was present has e-mailed me to say how thoroughly he enjoyed the meeting.

The Club were told about the passing away of Betty Higgs and condolences are to be sent to Cyril and his family .

There is no meeting of the Club next week as there is to be a healthy turn out of members and their wives at the Presidents Evening at Rothwell .The next meeting of the Club will be on 30th January when yours truly will be absent due to a work commitment (someone else will have to e-mail me with a resume of the meeting!)
