Writings re meeting 17-08-13

Dear All,

The meeting was preceded by Council which was poorly attended and all Committee Chairman were absent or arrived late. Membership was discussed and there is the possibility of attracting one or two prospective members to future meetings .

The meeting on 5th September is to be cancelled as there are no less than 15 apologies for that date due to the Jewish New Year and other absences .

A minutes silence was held for the passing away of a former President Colin White.

Jack has obtained a very interesting speaker for 12th September namely Professor Michael Green and his topic will be on a murder related theme .Ladies and partners are to be invited as well as anyone you might wish to bring along .Please make every effort to attend so that we have a bumper attendance .

The Yorkshire Evening Post have been inserting some articles on Rotary Club celebrations and it might be that they will now look favourably on accepting articles from Rotary Clubs .

Laurie Ramsey gave a most informative illustrated talk on his many inter club activities with twinned European Clubs which have taken place over the years

Next weeks meeting is Club Committees and as we have ample funds in the Charity account I look forward to hearing from each Committe how they intend to spend those funds .
