Christmas Lunches 2018

Christmas Day Lunches provided by The Rotary Club of Calverley

Some of our willing volunteers preparing Christmas Day lunches

The Rotary Club of Calverley's Christmas lunch programme will take place again in 2018. We provide lunches for over 100 elderly pensioners who are treated to a specially prepared 2 course Christmas Lunch together with a card and a gift of biscuits, kindly provided by the staff and students of Pudsey Grangefield School. The lunch is cooked by The 7 Steps Bar & Restaurant, Pudsey, and the finance and distribution is organised by The Rotary Club of Calverley. A big thank you also to the Headteacher, governors and staff of Westroyd Infant School and Nursery who allow us the use of their kitchens without charge.

Approximately 50 volunteers give up an hour or so of their Christmas Day to complete this worthwhile activity which enables many lonely pensioners to enjoy their Christmas lunch free of charge. Another valuable benefit is the sight of a friendly, cheerful visitor to their homes which provides a bit of cheer to someone who may normally spend Christmas Day alone.

If you would like to volunteer to deliver the lunches this year or you know of somebody in the LS28 or LS13 area who would benefit from this service, please contact The Rotary Club of Calverley, tel. 0113 2564378 or e-mail .
