Welcome to the Rotary Club of Hounslow.

We will working with the Rotary Club of Heston & Isleworth, supporting the Stroke Association on our Know Your Blood Pressure Day

Saturday 29 April 2017

10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

at the Treaty Centre, Hounslow,

The Rotary Club of Hounslow has been supporting Polio Eradication.

Not long ago the world was paralysed by the fear of polio, which killed or crippled 1000 people a day, most of them children, in more than 125 countries. Polio eradication has been Rotary's top priority since 1985 and, working with organisations such as the WHO and UNICEF, we have managed to reduce the number of cases by 99% and eliminate polio from all but four countries around the world. We now have a wonderful opportunity to stamp out this terrible disease once and for all thanks to a magnificent $350m grant from the Gates Foundation. In return for this Rotary world wide is committed to raising a further $200m by 2012.

Welcome to Hounslow Rotary

Hounslow Rotary is open to men and women who are resident or who work in the London Borough of Hounslow and the immediately surrounding area. They will usually have reached a responsible position in their chosen vocation and are able to speak on this authoritatively. The club meets weekly on Mondays at The Master Robert Hotel, on the Great West Rd in Hounslow.

The club's philosophy "getting more out of life working together for others" sums up our approach. We are young-hearted, good-humoured, and keen to add the professional touch. It is said we enjoy an esprit de corps worthy of the best organisations.

As well as Rotary you may also have heard of Inner Wheel and Rotaract. Rotary is open to both men and women over the age of 30 years. Rotaract is for 18-30 year olds. Inner Wheel is open to lady, family members of Rotarians and Rotaract.

We invite you to explore our website. If you are not a Rotarian but what you learn about us appeals to you then please contact the Club Sec. We will be delighted to hear from you. We also welcome enquiries from organisations who wish to explore ways of joining with us in a cooperative venture, or who would like to help in any other way with our existing programmes.

What is Rotary?

Rotary is an organisation of business and professional men and women united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Rotary is the world's first service club. Founded in Chicago, Illinois on February 23, 1905. At the last count there were approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belonging to more than 31,000 clubs located in 167 countries. We have just celebrated our first centenary.

Rotary was founded by Paul P. Harris, an attorney who wished to recapture in a professional club the same friendly spirit he had felt in the small towns of his youth. The name "Rotary" derived from the early practice of rotating meetings, each member taking a turn as host.

Rotarians meet weekly for fellowship and interesting and informative programmes dealing with topics of local and global importance. Membership reflects a wide cross-section of the community.

Rotarians plan and carry out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programmes that touch other people's lives in their local communities and our world community.

Rotary is Service above Self.
