About us

We might be small in numbers and have several older members, this doesn't stop everybody being involved in some way in all the events and activities we do, and we are always considering more ways to help the community at home and aboard.

The grid below explains some of the regular and current projects that we organise, are involved in or have supported. In addition we support many charities through donations of monies fund raised elsewhere.

We meet every Monday evening, at 5:45 for 6pm start, enjoy a meal followed by a short talk by a member or guest and finish about 7:30. We socialise as friends, catching up with news and general discusions, with very little formality but we are organised.

To support events and activities we fund raise through a variety of ways, some of which are the projects below. Other means are through bucket collections at the Supermarkets in Brighouse, fun events as race nights, quiz nights, raffles,

If you would like to be involved in any of the events below, have a project that needs support or a local charity that needs some help, please get in touch. It's what we are here for.

 Regular Projects and Events

School Prizes Trophy

Each year 6 Schools in the Brighouse area award Rotary prizes to pupils who have contributed to the community.

Each pupil receives a trophy to keep for a year and a gift voucher provided by the club.

The current president has the honor of attending the school prizegiving evening to award the trophy.

Each year in late October work gets underway to distribute poppies and collecting tins to shops and schools in the Brighouse area to support the British Legion Poppy Appeal.

On Rememberance day the President attends and we donate to provide a wreath for the cenotaph.

Santa Sleigh Picture

Every year in December, we join forces with 3 other local fund raising groups and take the Santa Sleigh round the streets of different areas of Brighouse.

Well supported by all residents of these areas this raises funds which are ring-fenced for local deserving causes in the Brighouse area.

At the start of December we take the time to visit the rest centre in the middle of Brighouse and put up all the Christmas Decorations and if needs be buy some replacements. This is greeted by the volounteers as "the start of Christmas"!

A few weeks into December, we take over the running of the rest centre and provide free tea, coffee and mince pies to anyone calling in. (The mince pies are kindly donated by Tesco)

Rest Centre At Christmas

Also at the start of December sees the dedication of the annual "Tree of Lights" at Sainsburys.

To remember a loved one at Christmas people "buy" a light and all proceeds go towards that years announced charity or worthy cause.

We provide the Christmas tree and Lights and Sainburys provide the power and collect donations.

Thanks Sainsburys
