There was a very high standard of speaking at the District Senior Youth Speaks Final last week.
Seven schools made it to the final, speaking on a selection of subjects varying from "What's to fear about Artifical Intelligence" to "Why Can't People Just be Nice"..
The winners were Mark Rutherford School, sponsored by Bedford Rotary and they were speaking on "Body Donation - The Ultimate Act of Charity?". Runners Up were Tring School, sponosed by Berkhamsted Rotary, speaking on "Plastic Pollution". With the current legislation just going rhough about Organ Donation and our own DG's interest in picking up litter, these subjects were both on point.
Prizes were also awared to the Best Chair, Best Speaker and Best Vote of Thanks which were awarded as follows:-
Best Chair - Amy Buttice, Mark Rutherford School
Best Speaker - Susannah Baker, Mark Rutherford School
Best Vote of Thanks - Oscar Smith, Rushmoor School
Our thanks to all those teams who took part and to our Adjucators Mike O'Keefe, David Hughes, Bill Blyth and our Questionner Jenny Muir.
