"It's been an interesting few months" said Sue Whitton of Swanage Rotary as she reflected on the sales of the final puddings at the Christmas Fayre in Swanage.
"We have been selling the puddings for a number of years in aid of mine clearence, so it was a shock when we heard the charity was loosing it's UN funding and the puddings couldn't be used this year" said Sue. "We approached the producers in South Wales to see what could be done and they offered us the whole stock of puddings provided we could relabel them prior to sale".
"I must admit 1200 didn't sound too many when we made the commitment but when a large van turned up I realised what we had let ourselves in for" said Sue.
With help from other members of the club all the puddings were relabled and it was decided to support 4 charities with any profits:
Over the last few months we have sold them to individuals and other Rotary clubs and the pile has been getting smaller week by week.
"I had booked a stall at most of the local charity events throughout the Autumn and with the support of the local community I am delighted to say I sold the last one this afternoon" said a relieved Sue.
back Swanage Rotary raises funds in our community to support our activities. As you can see from the list on the left hand side these are many and varied. Why not come along and support one of the events or give us a hand.
