International Opportuntities

Rotarians everywhere unite to meet challenges and offer opprotunities around the world

Rotary clubs frequently collaborate across national borders through:

  • International partnerships
  • Friendship exchanges
  • Joint humanitarian projects
  • Disaster response
  • Vocational exchanges
  • Community development programmes

These partnerships strengthen trust between communities and promote mutual respect.

One popular and effective partnership is the Polio NID programme where Rotarians take part in a long week of End Polio publicity and vaccination of young children.  I have details of programmes in October 2026 and February 2027 in the Agra region of India.  Contact Chris Furth to find out more

Rotary Intercountry Committees

Rotary Intercountry Committees (ICCs) are one of Rotary International's most effective mechanisms for promoting international understanding, friendship, and cooperation. They bring together Rotarians from two or more countries to build lasting relationships, develop humanitarian partnerships, and encourage cultural exchange. By creating direct links between districts and clubs across national borders, ICCs strengthen Rotary's commitment to its Fourth Avenue of Service—International Service—and contribute significantly to Rotary's vision of advancing world understanding and peace.

The primary mission of Rotary ICCs is to foster peace, goodwill, and international understanding through friendship and collaboration. Unlike formal Rotary committees that operate within districts or zones, ICCs create enduring bilateral relationships between countries, enabling Rotarians to work together on projects of mutual benefit.

D1100’s membership of ICCs is growing, with different levels of collaboration with Southern Africa, Germany, Ukraine, Brazil and Portugal
