Mid January and 5 hearty Rotarians were out at Gaulby Lodge Farm planting 1,000 whips over a 250 metre run.
7 members spent the morning coppicing hazel trees at Wyggeston’s Wood. After which one member delivered a substantial collection of hazel stakes to the gardening volunteers at Aigburth Care Home.

Libby and Stuart, with support from the premises team (Jon and Martin), planted 10 trees at the School to replace those that had to be cut down last summer. The trees and supports were financed by the Club.
Our Impact Group today started a weekly gardening club at Brambleside Primary School. Norman and Carol were the first on the rota and they helped the children plant some trees. The gardening club runs every Monday lunchtime and next on the list is planting up the empty raised beds with some vegetables. We look forward to seeing this project in action which looks inspiring to be able to teach the next generation the importance of plants for our pollinator friends.
Our Impact Group organised a Rotary litter pick at Wicksteed Park and collected 8 bags of rubbish.
As part of this event the Great Kettering Spring Clean event, we held a litter pick from 10am to 2pm alongside St Thomas More Primary School. We had 47 volunteers join us and we collected 30 bags of litter. The day brought Kettering community groups together to complete a spring clean around the town centre.
Planting a 'Tiny Foresty' in association with other volunteers on behalf of Charnwood Borough Council, and Earthwatch, supported by the Local Authority Treescapes Fund, distributed to local authorities via the Forestry Commission.
