There were 14 solo performers, instrumental and solo and three ensemble/ choirs. They ranged from 11 to 17 years old.
The judge was Sheila Berry, an accomplished musician and singer who has been a music and voice coach for over 40 years. She has a passion for developing young singers and musicians.
The standard in all the categories was extremely high. So much so that there was a tie for the winner of the solo instrumentalist.

The trophy for the overall best musician/vocalist of the day went to Effie Bowman who not only won the best instrumentalist for her harp playing but was also highly commended for her vocal performance in the solo vocalist category.
The winners of the Solo categories will go forward to the Regional final at Wolverhampton Music School on 9th March.
This was a very enjoyable and successful day. Our thanks go to Uppingham School for the use of their excellent facilities and to the members of the Rotary Clubs of Uppingham and Huntingdon Cromwell who assisted on the day with stewarding and the, much appreciated, supply of teas, coffees and biscuits.
