The project is to enable the ladies in Kavre Pokhari, a village in Nepal, to avoid climbing down and back up a mountainside to fetch water 3-4 times a day. To achieve this requires the installation of Solar Panels and pumps (SolarMUS) to bring the water up from the Tusharepani spring.
This project is in partnership with Renewable World who are running a much larger programme in this area of Nepal involving provding running water and much needed sanitation for schools.
Having started the project in 2020, the Rotary Club of Danetre Daventry worked on gathering the funds needed, working on and with other Rotary Clubs in the District plus applying for a grant from Rotary International's charity The Rotary Foundation. A full list of sponsors is below.
They succeeded in raising £30,000 needed to fund the installation of the solar panels and pumps needed. They are now raising further funds to continue with an ongoing need for WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) improvements and training for the school and community.
