Following a disaster, many vulnerable people are without access to some of the most basic human rights: food, shelter, sanitation facilities, education and healthcare.
Rotary mobilises rapidly in the wake of human and natural disasters to provide emergency support. Rotary is often a part of the communities that we work in and with, and is well-placed to help implement longer term projects for recovery and to help build resilience to face future challenges.
Our global network means Rotary members collaborate from thousands of miles apart, connecting with people and organisations so that together we have a bigger impact. Distance is no barrier when it comes to changing lives.
The Rotary Foundation supports many emergency response organisations and you can help too through its Disaster Response Donation Page.
There are a number of emergency response charities providing immediate relief in the face of disasters, which Rotary members support or work with in a variety of ways.
Following the immediate aftermath of disasters, Rotary members support a number of emergency response charities. A lot of these charities started out as Rotary club projects and have grown to provide essential assistance throughout the world.
In most cases, these charities will work with local Rotarians, wherever the disaster may be.
