When we visit the natural world we are encouraged to leave with nothing but footprints and take away nothing but smiles.
In our personal lives, our work, our communities and our clubs, it is critical we do our utmost to keep our carbon footprints as low as possible and offset our residual C02e emissions, essentially, no footprint at all!
The Be a Hero Go Net Zero initiative provides a simple methodology to be as sure as we can, that as an individual, having done everything within reason to minimise our footprint, we offset the residual and self-declare as Net Zero for the 12 months prior to declaring.
Through using two to three carbon calculators, we can help individuals to calculate and monitor their carbon footprint. While it's recognised that carbon calculators are not precise tools, it is a classic case of not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
The Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group is challenging Rotary Clubs & Rotarians to take action to acheive a Net Zero Carbon Footprint.
This new initiative aims to have at least 1 Net Zero Hero per Rotary Club in the East Midlands by the end of 2024.
While this is a Rotary Initiative, anyone can join in!
