John Saynor

John is a retired solicitor, having for many years been a partner in one of the East Midlands largest firms. He remains a trustee of several local charities.

Originally from South Yorkshire, he and his wife Kate moved to Northamptonshire in the late 1970’s “for a couple of years”, and stayed! He joined Northampton Becket Rotary Club over 35 years ago, determined to give something back to the community, and to enjoy the friendship and opportunities offered. He enjoys taking part in the many hands-on projects the Club are involved with, be it painting, new gardens at schools or the Christmas sleigh.

He has been instrumental in fund raising for the Club’s various projects, including school materials into South Africa and Malawi (Classroom Box), a global grant for composting toilets, and the various classroom projects at Chitipi School. He is currently fundraising for a new playground in his home village.

He is a keen traveller, was very active in younger days playing hockey until his late 40’s and skiing up to three years ago, and still enjoys walking and golf.
