Young Artist 2026 District Final

The competition aims to encourage young people to be creative, develop skills in using traditional, contemporary media or demonstrate interpretation of the topic, and express personal ideas through a selected medium.

There are three stages of the competition, local area, District and National Final, with three age groups, Junior (7 – 10), Intermediate (11-13) & Senior (14 – 17). 

The winners of the District 1070 round who will now progress to the National Final are:

Senior - Jessie Malthouse (aged 17)

Jessie's description of her work is -"My layered landscape features a glowing moon and decorative trees to express Happiness in Nature. I wanted to evoke a sense of calm and beauty found in the harmony of the natural world.

The judges' comments spoke of her confidence and composition. Good techniques and her interpretation of the theme.

Intermediate - Evelyn Davey (aged 13)

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Stamford

Evelyn's description of her work -"I featured my piece around the happiness in nature by sharing, even in the darkest of times, there is always hope".

The judges comments described her work as strong and thought provoking, in an individual style.

Junior - Naomi Fuchs (aged 10)

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kibworth and Fleckney

Naomi's description of her work - "I always feel happy when I go rock pooling. I love seeing all the fish, crabs and shrimps".

The judges comments described her work as personal and charming, with great attention to detail and use of shadowing.
