Nurture Africa’s founder and CEO Brian Iredale came to Uganda in 1997 after a 3000 mile solo cycle through east and southern Africa. He is a paediatric nurse by profession and is married to a Ugandan lady Nakawunde Annet. Brian is from the area of Dublin Fingal Rotary club and has our support as well as the backing of Nansana Rotary club in Uganda; Wakiso District.
Nurture Africa operated two ‘best practice’ specialist pediatric HIV and primary health centers, hosted in temporary facilities. It also ran programme of bringing Irish volunteers, many of them doctors and nurses, on short-term visits to Uganda, to provide services and help to buid local capacity through training.

Dublin Fingal Rotary made a major contribution to the construction and fit-out of Nurtue Africa's first standalone clinic, with Brian Fitzsimons visiting the site to provide engineering support, and the club raising funds, topped up by a grant from the Rotary Foundation, to fund laboratory and medical equipment.
