From its front on Leith's Commercial Street, Citadel Youth Centre looks like a well-preserved part of Leith's history, a former railway station in what was once Leith's busy rail network serving the docks and local businesses.
But behind its classical pillars, the Citadel Youth Centre has been making a different kind of history - the personal history our local children and young people can eventually look back on as an important part of their childhood and where they gained the skills, experiences and outlook that helped them navigate their way to adult life. As a local institution, many of the families coming to the Citadel went there themselves as children.
The team from the Citadel will be sharing with us what goes on behind those pillars, how they help children and young people make their way in the world, and what they need from Leith Rotary during their charity of the year designation, to help them keep the doors open for our local families.
