There are 1.4 million Rotarians in 46,000 clubs worldwide. The size and impact of Rotary can only be achieved if each local club welcomes new members, creates lasting bonds in which people work hard, trust each other and enjoy a "give and get back" relationship.
We are a wide ranging group of men and women from all walks of life as entrepreneurs, activists, public servants, volunteers and professionals.
We regularly welcome a Rotary Scholar. Hattie Carter, a Texan studying a medical course at Edinburgh University, is our scholar for 2024-25. Our member Dr Amjad Khan will be her host/mentor on behalf of the club.
We welcome visitors from any Rotary worldwide, most recently from Perth, Australia. In turn, Leith Rotarians can visit any Rotary club around the world when they are travelling.
The group meets weekly in a venue where sharing a meal and enjoying a glass or two - or a cuppa - is part of our welcome. Check our meetings section.
In addition to our regular calendar of speakers, we designate some sessions throughout the year to socials with other Rotary Clubs.
Curling - our club boasts strong sporting connections, with expert Curlers in our midst who have represented Scotland in international Rotary cups, undertaken international Curling tours to Rotary Curling Clubs in Canada and the US, and continue to build their collection of pins and cups. Introductions to Curling and fun sessions take place regularly for new members and casual players.
Hickory Golf - our local Leith Links is home to the foundation of the sport, so we honour this with an annual team entry to the Hickory Open and Golf Week run by the Leith Rules Golf Society.
Generally, members are a tad competitive, which is good news for new members who want to extend their fellowship to some friendly sporting challenges. We are open to members sharing any of their sporting passions as socials, as fundraisers, or as "off-calendar" fellowship.
