At the end of our sponsorship of baby Gift we received th following excellent news from the charity Forever Angels, which runs the Marisha Matters project in Tanzania.
"Gift's Aunt has been so successful in her business she has earned enough income to support Gift and her siblings with all the essentials, as well as send her older children to school, and have enough money to save and refurbish her hair salon. If you remember before, it was a very dark room with black walls - she has painted it, bought new equipment and it looks wonderful.
Another great piece of news is that she is now training one of our other Maisha Matters Mama's as an apprentice! This is a new scheme we are trialling, for successful business women on our programme, to train a new carer who has no skills or qualifications. The partnership is working so well and Mama Gift is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her skills.
She said, "Just one year ago, I was struggling so much. My family had no money for food and suddenly I was in charge of Gift and her siblings and felt such stress. I was ill because of worry as I could not afford milk to feed Gift. I thank God every day for Forever Angels - for saving Gift and for giving me this blessing of a business. I am so proud of myself and know I can give Gift and my children a better future."
Gift and her Aunt are now fully independent and no longer need our support. Thank you so much for helping this family. It truly is a life changing story and one of many! We are so proud of the two"
