Volunteering

We provide voluntary support to many local initiatives. Here are some of our regular events.

Surbiton Festival

Surbiton Festival was originally established by Surbiton Rotary and we now support the event by volunteering our time on the day and raising awareness of our role in the local community.in 2023 our stall focussed on BiPolar UK, our Rotary Great Britain and Ireland partner charity. To raise funds, we held a "Name the Bear" competition and the two lucky winners each recieved a cuddly Polar Bear. Our stall also had information relating to BiPolar to increase awareness in the community.

KidsOut

We support the local KidsOut day. The first Rotary KidsOut National Day Out took place 25 years ago in June 1990 for only a couple of hundred children. Organised by Kingston Rotary Club and Littlewoods organisation as a trial day, it proved so successful that the next year it was spread across the UK. Today KidsOut partners with Rotary to take more than 25,000 disadvantaged children on our National Day Out each year and thousands more through Fun Days. It was an honour for us to have the Mayor of Kingston Upon Thames join us in Chessington in 2023. A very heartwarming day

Celebrate Chessington

Chessington Fun Day was started many years ago by Kingston Council to allow the residents of Chessington to come together and learn about what is available to them in the community. The council subsequently withdrew support and a team of volunteers now runs the event every year.  Surbiton Rotary volunteers at the event and collects the money for the tokens used on the day. It is an excellent day, providing entertainment and activities for so many families.
