Caporn Hardship Grant Scheme


Introduction

Surbiton Rotary Club offer a limited number of small grants to help disadvantaged children and young adults in the KT1, KT2, KT3, KT4, KT5, KT6 and KT9 postcode areas who are suffering hardship.

Grants are given to purchase essential items for a child / young adult to help with their education or well-being. Examples of essential items are laptop computers / tablets, school uniforms, sports equipment or anything else that may lessen their hardship. Other requests may also be considered - here are some examples of grants which have already been granted:

  • Fees for after scool Art club for an impoverished family
  • Fees for a before school breakfast club with intervention to support learning
  • School residential trip for building communications and teamwork skils for an impoverished family
  • Attendance at weekend Gymnasium Club to improve the child's self-esteem and social skills
  • Purchase of a buggy for a young child from an impoverished family

Notes to Applicants

Applications must be made on the official form and can only come from a school or community organisation. The form must be signed by an official of the school / organisation and the parent / guardian of the individual.

We will aim to process applications in a timely manner and will let applicants know whether or not they have been successful.

When an application has been approved the money will be sent to the account of the school / organisation by BACS or if required by cheque and the school / organisation will purchase the item concerned. Successful applicants will be responsible for completing the feedback form in due course.
