Kids Out
From a small beginning in 1990 when Kingston Rotary Club organised a day out to Thorpe Park for 200 disabled/disadvantaged children, this enterprise has now grown into a nationwide Rotary activity which in 2019 saw 28,000 children attending venues all over the UK and takes place on the second Wednesday in June each year.
Nowadays Kingston, New Malden, Surbiton and Walton on Thames Rotary Clubs join together to organise and host annual trips to Chessington World of Adventures this is a fun day out for local children who might otherwise never be able to have an experience which most of us would take for granted. We are also providing for carers/teachers who will accompany and give specialist care to their charges. If you want to see more visit www.kidsout.org.uk
To make the National Rotary KidsOut Day the success that it is, more than 10,000 Rotarians volunteer on the day at over 100 venues. Whether they live with critical health issues, in refuge or with a disability, children across the country are taken on a fun day out to the zoo, a theme park or even the seaside, often for the first time in their lives.
