Every year we sponsor two young people from our local community to take advantage of this scheme.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is one of the most successful Rotary programmes run by Rotary clubs around the world. The fun and intensive training programme for 14 to 30 year olds offers the leaders of the future a chance to get a head start at an early age.Talented young people attend a seminar, camp, or workshop ā generally three to ten days in length ā organised by Rotary club members.
The RYLA programme gives young people and young adults the chance to improve leadership and communication skills, learn about businesses and institutions, explore career paths, share ideas and experiences, learn how to coordinate youth activities and community service projects in the community, and discuss creative approaches for resolving family, social, and professional conflicts.

We always ask for feedback and it would appear that this year our two participants really enjoyed themselves.
Zayna "RYLA has helped me make plenty of new friends, (which you will be glad to hear we are all still in contact now!) The trip also helped me to embrace my leadership and communication skills amongst different types of people. We were quite surprised to hear how much work Rotarians do within and outside of their communities. I would love if future members of this project were able to learn more about how Rotary works and are given contact numbers and details of how they can maybe get involved. This is such an amazing organisation and I look forward to hopefully hearing more about it in the future. Thank you for everything you do"
Jacob " I am writing today to say a huge thank you for the opportunity I was given to go on the RYLA 2022 scheme. I had so much fun, made many new friends and also learnt a lot of things about leadership and teamwork for example.
We did so many exciting activities all of which were extremely fun, for example rock climbing, kayaking, raft building, abseiling, high ropes and much more. Iād say my favourite was rock climbing because I found that was where I was strongest and I could achieve a lot in my climbs. Also the kayaking was very fun but difficult because I found out I wasn't very good at steering but I improved a lot and still really enjoyed it.So overall, again I want to say a massive thank you for the opportunity to be able to attend this trip and I am so grateful that I have had this experience. I would definitely call that week one of the best weeks of my life!
