A team of volunteers enjoyed helping Mid Sussex Voluntary Action tidy, repaint and plant up the planters at The Cherrytree Centre in Burgess Hill. With support from B&Q Burgess Hill, who supplied paint, plants and compost, the area was given a makeover.
We had a great time networking with other members from across the district over the 2 day conference. The weather on Saturday was very challenging, with gale force winds and rain. The inspirational speakers and opportunity to learn more about the work of other charities made it a very worthwhile weekend.
With the various restictions leading up to the Rotary Ride on 4th September 2021, we were pleased to be able to take part in the Burgess Hill Health and Well Being event with a static bike ride. We were supported by Brian from Mid Sussex Prostate Cancer Support Group and 21 riders took part. We collected £60 to donate to Prostate Cancer UK. We also had a great time networking with other organisations and Burgess Hill Radio.
We work very closely with other Rotary Clubs in our area and in our District. Both Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath have run Car Boot Sales and we have really enjoyed helping them to marshall and having a stall ourselves to raise money for our projects.
For 2021/22 we have pledged our support to the Dame Vera Lynn Childrens Charity by giving our time to help them with their events. We spent a lovely afternoon, albeit a bit wet and windy, at their Open Day in Cuckfield. They raised over £1,000 and we had a great time.
We were approached by Mid Sussex Volunteer Action to see if we could help with some decorating at The Yews. We were really pleased to take on our first project and the team spent 30 hours decorating a counselling room and an upstairs corridor. Luckily it was mainly covering the walls with emulsion, as, being an older buidling the ceilings were quite high.
