This summer has been a success story for two reasons in particular.
Firstly, the Club has secured a Rotary Global Grant in aid of the new Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. The Grant means that the Club will supply much of the furniture and equipment needed for the eighteen in-patient rooms that will be included in the Hospice's new centre in Farnham.
Valued at around £96,000, this project has taken two years to complete and has been made possible by contributions from eleven local Rotary Clubs plus Clubs and Districts in the UK, India, Ireland and Japan.
The new Hospice is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2026.
Secondly, the Club had yet another successful Music in the Park in July., its twelfth weekend concert since the first in 2001. The tribute bands and performers included UB40, Bon Jovi, Robble Williams and "Lost in Music" featuring the music of Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Earth Wind & Fire, Sister Sledge and others.
This success means that the Club will donate a further £25,000 to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice this year.
Finally, and looking to the not-too-distant future, the Club's plans for its traditional Christmas Collections around the streets of Farnborough are well underway. These will begin in early December, cover most if not all of the routes that have featured in recent years, and will finish on Christmas Eve.
Details of the routes and their dates will be published here on the Club's website and in Facebook as soon as they are available.
