Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

RYLA gives Rotary clubs the opportunity to offer the leaders of the future, a head start at an early age, developing teamwork and leadership skills.

Our students for 2024

This year Ewell and Epsom Rotary clubs worked with the Refugee centre in Epsom who helped us select our participants. We are pleased to have sponsored Karolina and Adela, two Ukrainian students (pictured below in the centre of the photograph with their families).

Karolina and Adela attended a 5 day course at High Ashurst near Dorking with 52 other students. At the beginning of the week there were ice breaker activities so the students could calm their nervous and get to know each other. As the week continued, they enjoyed team building activities, high ropes and a fashion show. The students learned leadership and communication skills, resilience, and trust.

On 31st July 2024, Rotarians John Brewer (from Ewell Rotary Club), Tony Alexrod and Maggie Rowells (from Epsom Rotary Club) attended a Gala Dinner at High Ashurst. They had the chance to see the facilities available to students and to chat with Karolina and Adela about their experience.
