We decided to take on the allotment as we felt there was a need to help improve the wellbeing of people in our community, as well as the opportunity to grow fresh food for the local Epsom Pantry
Green Thumb, a local gardening company, supported our allotment back in June 2021 to help us clear the site ready for planting. Many thanks goes out to them for their assistance.
Surrey County Council’s Reparation Team are also involved, and a group of their young people made us eight raised beds so that planting could begin.
This is a new opportunity which we hope will develop into a great community project.
The allotment is by Epsom Common, near the Cricketers pub. There is some parking on site but also on the road leading down to the Cricketers pub.
We have generously been given lots of free tools and we had a successful bid to SES Water for money for a water butt.
Working on the allotment can be hard work but lots of fun and we are always looking for volunteers who can spare an hour or two.
In the summer months when we pick produce and take it to the Epsom Pantry, we are always amazed how generous other plot holders are, in giving us their surplus produce.
It is very satisfying to see the faces of those at the Epsom Pantry and how grateful they are to have such an abundance of fresh produce for their clients.
If you would be able to help in anyway please complete the form below and Maureen will contact you shortly.
