Eastern Borders Foodbank

Veronica is the convener for our local independent foodbank which serves the Eastern Borders and it is made up of an active team of volunteers based in Duns. She described how, through the church, they started nearly four years ago and built up the foodbank. Unlike other foodbanks, the provisions have been adapted to meet the immediate needs of the people referred, including some fresh products and for babies. The demand is very variable on a month to month basis and currently the donations are just about keeping pace. Collections are made at local churches, the Eyemouth High School and Eyemouth Rotary Club.

The Teddy Tombola
more The Coldingham Gala had a new stall this year full of Teddy Bears for people to win in a tombola "everyone a winner". Hundreds of tickets were sold and the proceeds donated to the St Abbs Lifeboat.

Purple crocus planting
more To support the End Polio Now campaign we planted 5000 crocus corms in two large "Rotary" wheels at the crossroads in Eyemouth with help from horticultural students from the high school.

more Annual duck race in the Eyewater. A 1000 ducks competing to get to the finish line the fastest.
Festive coffee morning and entertainment
more The Herring Queen and three maids helping out at the sales table at a special coffee morning.

more We supported the late night shopping in Eyemouth, serving mulled wine, mince pies and giving treats to the children in the quiz.
Annual whiskey tasting
more A collection of Rotarians and guests gather to sample a selection of the amber nectar from Scottish distilleries.

more David Woodhouse on a stand this year to promote Rotary work in the area and sell ducks for the forthcoming duck race. We supplied marshals for the event and recorded visitor numbers.

The Young Technologist winners, two runner up teams and their teacher
more The Eyemouth High School put forward three teams for the 2015 Rotary Young Technologist competition. They performed extremely well, with the senior team in first place and the others two teams both came a close second to some very good competition.
Stable Life Project
