ROTARY COMMUNITY MEMBERS SUPPORT BALERNO HIGH SCHOOL

Submitted to C&B News March 2026

In November we announced a new partnership between Currie Balerno Rotary and Balerno Community High School with the objective of involving pupils in community activities and preparing them for the world of work.

In February, senior pupils at Balerno High School were invited to sign up for face-to-face interviews with employers to help them prepare for applications for holiday jobs, school positions or ultimately future employment. Essential to this exercise, of course, was the participation of representatives of local businesses and two of our Rotary Community Members – Circle Security and Oriam – offered to take part.

Colin Muir of Oriam (above left) and Ian Farmer of Circle Security (above right) acted as employers, holding 20-minute interviews which included feed-back and discussion. Afterwards the pupils gave their own feed-back on the experience and they all found the experience helpful, useful and positive.

Circle Security and Oriam are just two of our Rotary Community Members, together with Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club, Jack Brown Eyecare, Lindsay & Gilmour and William Purves.
