Currie Flowers

We have maintained a flower display at Currie every year since 2002.

Plants on railings at Currie

In 2002 Currie Balerno Rotary initiated an environmental project in Currie to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. The project was to redevelop the site in front of the then Currie Post Office (now the Gift Shop). We purchased 25 barrel planters, 15 wall planters and a commemorative bench. Our contribution was officially recognised by Buckingham Palace.

Since 2002, members of Currie Balerno Rotary have planted and maintained the flower display every year. We know it is appreciated by the residents of Currie.

Donations towards the purchase of the flowers or offers of help with the watering will always be welcome.

In 2024 we have replaced the old broken barrel planters with new ones, assisted by funding from Edinburgh City Council. These will all be planted up in Spring 2025 but already have some well-sprouted daffodil bulbs transferred from the old barrels. Two of the new barrels sited by the old post office are shown in tthe photo below.
