Tonight’s speaker came to us through the power of Zoom! Our first since moving into our new meeting venue, with a couple of members also joining us on Zoom, and, thanks to the IT/digital wizards in the club it went very well!
Fiona Anderson, Development Manager with Link Education International
Fiona shared with us the underpinning strategy and philosophy for the work that LINK is doing in Ethiopia, Malawi, Rewanda and Uganda, each with its own local director funded by LINK. They are supporting 70-80,000 children at the moment.
Improving learning through enhancing teaching leadership and quality, creating safe and inclusive learning environments. They work with governments and local communities to meet their aims that all children receive an effective and comprehensive education. They use a School Performance Review Cycle as the methodology of choice which covers all the aspects of improvement that you would expect and subsequently deliver the improvement plan drafted in partnership with the community who then monitor progress
The strategic goals of the charity are
Strengthen education systems
Promote education in emergencies
Build resilience to climate change
Maximise impact
Advocate for education to be a global priority
The vote of thanks was given by Rodger Thom
