Our Speakers were Martin Cairney and Bill McMullen from Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary club.
Mark spoke first telling us how the club had brought the Lend with Care project into schools in their area. This increases the profile of Rotary in the community and gives the club much valuable publicity. It is mainly primary 6 children who get involved and they decide which projects should be helped while Rotary does the administration.
Having ‘found’ Rotary the children and teachers may like to become involved in the many other youth projects Rotary runs, like the Young Musician and Young Writer.
The Rotary Club produces all the paperwork for the schools – and there is a lot of it. This must involve a great deal of work.
Mark then handed over to Bill who told us about Lend with Care for Rotary clubs. Our club knows all about this. See our web page – What we do Internationally – Lend with care.
The club’s vote of thanks was given by Peter McGavigan
