Help to Supply the Guttering

An update from Ailsa following our donation

Ailsa Thom who founded the Visoi Childrens Charity has sent us some photos and an update following our donation when she visited the Club on 7 March

I enjoyed my visit to the Rotary last month.  You all made me feel very welcome, and I enjoyed the chance to speak about the orphanage.

Thank you very much again for your generous financial support, which has gone to pay for the water harvesting system.  I was over in Kenya for a week at the end of March, and it was lovely to see the children again.  We now have 22 of them, the youngest of whom is 2 1/2.  Mama Sweetie is doing a great job with them, and the atmosphere is a very happy one.

The workmen had begun the work before I got there, puting up boards under the eaves on which the gutterings are being attached.  As you will see from the photos, the children were fascinated by the process, and thought that the white paint was milk!

The gutterings were fixed by the time I left, and the next stage was to add the connecting pipes and install another water tank.  As the rains started at the beginning of April, it was very well timed and will provide a good source of water for irrigation and washing.  Mama Sweetie will send photos of the completed work, and I'll forward them to you when they arrive.

Once again, thank you very much for your generous support.
