Club Assembly & Handover to New President (& Photos)

Wed, Jun 29th 2011 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Thanks to Roy Stirrat for the photos

What an enjoyable Club meeting - lots of information, plans, presentations and a most unusual format for the annual Club photo (see above)!

Outgoing President John welcomed everyone including Assistant Governor David Hull who is taking over leadership of the City Area (formerly City Zone) for 2011-2012. John referred to his Review of the Year the previous week, the canal cruise, and introduced Incoming President Bill Strang before 'handing over' the chain of office. Bill presented President Elect (2011-2012) Frances with her chain of office and briefly outlined the objectives of the new Rotary Year. Committee chairs were then invited to give their summaries of activities to follow and while much of it is repeated annually, and much loved, there was an indication that we can look forward to one or two new events - standing still is not allowed!

Founder member Bert Allan PHF leaves the Club after thirty years and it was with great pleasure that members awarded him Honorary membership in recognition of his long and devoted 'service above self'', the certificate presented by Outgoing President John.

For his service to International projects at both District and Club level, John presented the award of a Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) to Rodger Thom, this award having been instigated by none other than our very own District Governor, Allan Maclaughlan.

And so to the Club annual photograph expertly choreographed by Roy Stirrat. Never before have our members been seen in such an animated pose but it beats sitting down in rows for a formal photograph - hints of things to come perhaps?

And so to the new Rotary Year...........
